Clinical documentation is the heart of any EMR system. The physician enters data into a computer (or other digital device) with the assistance of templates that incorporate the standard elements of the practice. For patient complaints or conditions not found in the templates, a manual system—typically a keyboard—is used. StreamlineMD has an ever-expanding library of templates, which we will customize for your practice, to make your documentation as efficient and accurate as possible

StreamlineMD templates are fully customizable, enabling a completely personalized charting experience for our users, and maximizing both your speed and your accuracy. We will set up our templates to your exact specifications, so that you may accurately and efficiently document each patient's office visit—all in your own style.

With StreamlineMD, physicians can order prescriptions online, with only a few taps on a screen. Although most pharmacies are now online in the markets we serve, for those that are not, a fax can be generated electronically—without any paper. The advantages of electronic prescriptions include immediate checks for drug interaction problems, real-time compliance with payers’ formulary rules, and smooth renewals.

As with ePrescribing, StreamlineMD enables you, with only a few taps on a screen, to send a message to a lab notifying it of services to be performed. This will dramatically reduce call-backs from the laboratory and confusion over what tests to perform. Results will be returned electronically. This means they cannot be misfiled or left in the open, as paper files can. Because lab results are routed to a “to-do” box on your computer, they will never be overlooked.

Charge capture is the process of translating the physician’s work into a claim delivered to the payer. StreamlineMD helps doctors transition from performing this critical process on paper to doing it electronically. Electronic charge capture dramatically reduces the time billing companies spend taking doctors’ paper notes and keying them into a computer. It also offers the benefits of greater accuracy relative to paper, and greater comprehensiveness. All of these advantages enable the billing company to submit higher claims for each doctor, for exactly the same amount of work.

Our award-winning document management software enables you to share information within your practice, and to manage referrals and labs with ease. For historical paper records, we generally recommend scanning them and loading the digital images onto computer. This enables your practice to cut down the amount of paper kept in the office, and it helps locate all records relating to a patient in one digital file.

StreamlineMD offers a simple-to-use portal in which patients can—if you choose to let them—update their own demographic information, request prescription refills, make appointments, download forms, view lab results, and enter medical history. We tie this information directly to your workflows, to make sure that you and your patients get the most out of the StreamlineMD experience.
